Asian Beach Games 2026: India will show strength in Kabaddi, 3×3 basketball, see full list of players

Sanya. The 31-member Indian contingent will participate in the Asian Beach Games 2026 to be held in Sanya on Hainan Island in the People’s Republic of China from April 22 to 30. The sixth edition of the Asian Beach Games will have medal events in 15 disciplines, with a total of 62 gold medals at stake. India will participate in four disciplines – 3×3 basketball, beach kabaddi, sailing and beach wrestling.

India’s top basketball players Pranav Prince and Harsh Dagar will headline the 3×3 team. The Asian Beach Games, organized by the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA), is a multi-sport event focusing on beach and coastal disciplines. Held for the first time in Bali, Indonesia in 2008, these games featured sports that were not always included in the Asian Games.

The Asian Beach Games were last held in Da Nang, Vietnam in 2016, and were initially scheduled to return in 2020. But, it was significantly delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and now the event is resuming after a decade. The 2026 edition will be held entirely in the resort city of Sanya, with the opening ceremony on April 22 and the closing ceremony on April 30. Beach handball will start from April 21.

In the 2016 edition, India had won 24 medals, which included two gold, four silver and 18 bronze. The women’s Kabaddi team won gold, while the men’s team had to be content with silver. India got its second gold medal in Vocotruan, where Shweta More won the women’s 52kg event.
