IPL: Mumbai Indians beat Gujarat Titans by 99 runs, Tilak Verma’s century

Ahmedabad, 21 April 2026: In the 30th match of IPL 2026 played at Narendra Modi Stadium, Mumbai Indians registered a one-sided victory against the host Gujarat Titans. After four consecutive defeats, Mumbai finally found its rhythm and took a huge leap in the points table by defeating Gujarat by a huge margin of 99 runs.

Batting first, Mumbai Indians had set a strong target of 200 runs against Gujarat in the stipulated 20 overs. Chasing the target of 201 runs to win, the Gujarat Titans team led by Shubhman Gill was scattered like a palace of cards and was all out in just 100 runs.

The contribution of the bowlers was paramount in this victory of Mumbai. After waiting for a wicket for 6 consecutive matches, Bumrah gave a strong start to the team by taking his first wicket in this match. Ashwini Kumar, playing his first match of the season, this young fast bowler created havoc and took 4 wickets.

Mumbai has now moved straight from last to 7th position in the points table. Mumbai has got this advantage as its Net Run Rate (NRR) is now better than that of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Lucknow Super Giants. This defeat is a shock for Gujarat because they are still at sixth position with 6 points, but they have suffered a big loss in net run rate.
