Asian Games 2026: Before the start of the Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, Indian players have faced problems related to accommodation and transport. The 35 members of the Indian shooting team struggled with logistics for hours after reaching Nagoya. According to the report, initially the number of rooms provided for the team was much less than required, after which the Indian Olympic Association had to immediately make alternative arrangements.

After the matter came to light, the Indian team has intensified preparations at its own level instead of relying on the arrangements related to the event. According to India's Asian Games campaign head Sahdev Yadav, the names of about 30 to 35 players were removed from the accommodation list. The Indian team says that it had sent the players as per the fixed number.
Extra rooms booked instantly for players
According to Yadav, as soon as the problem came to light, the Indian team booked additional rooms in the hotel. First 18 rooms were taken and preparations were made to book 10 more rooms as per the need, so that the affected players do not face any problem in staying. He also said that now accommodation arrangements have been made for the Indian players.
The shooting team did not just have to face the problem of rooms. After reaching Nagoya, the players and support staff had to wait for a long time for the bus. Apart from this, questions have also been raised regarding the long distance covered and transportation arrangements to reach the shooting range.

India created three-tier backup system
Amidst the continuous complaints, the Sports Ministry has prepared a three-tier support system for Indian players in Nagoya. Under this, about 2,000 NRIs have been kept ready as backup, so that if needed, alternative arrangements for the players' stay can be made.
Apart from this, teams of Indian officials have been deployed at the airport and welcome centre. Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya has also reviewed the situation. The Indian team says that its focus is now on keeping the players prepared by protecting them from any kind of logistics problem.
