Indian Army players recently won 20 medals in the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games. This was his best performance in the Asiad. India's 501-member contingent included 62 Army players, who participated in 15 events and won 6 gold, 8 silver and 6 bronze medals. India won a total of 85 medals in Aichi-Nagoya, which included 21 gold, 27 silver and 37 bronze medals.
Of India's total medals, 23.52 percent were won by Army players. His 6 gold medals are 29 percent of India's 21 gold medals. Among the 62 Army players, 9 were women players, who won 2 gold and 1 silver medal.
Among the army players who performed brilliantly is Naib Subedar Neeru Dhanda, who won 2 gold and 1 silver medal in trap shooting. Long distance runner Naib Subedar Gulveer Singh also won 2 silver and 1 bronze medal. Gulveer created history by becoming the first Indian male track and field athlete to win three individual medals in a single Asian Games.

Army boxers also did wonders
4 army shooters took part in the shooting, who won 3 gold and 1 silver medal. Indian Army players won three medals including 1 gold and 2 bronze medals in boxing. Army players also made records in National and Asian Games. Havildar Sawan Barwal created a national record in the men's marathon with a timing of 2 hours, 11 minutes, 37 seconds. Subedar Dheeraj Bommadevara created a national record in men's recurve archery with a score of 698.

Havildar Kamaljeet set a new Asian Games record in the 10m air pistol mixed team event with a score of 484.6, while Neeru set a new Asian Games record in the women's trap shooting with a score of 118. In Rowing, Naib Subedar Salman Khan won the first Asian Games medal for India in the men's double sculls event. Women players contributed 15 percent to Army's total medals and 33 percent to gold medals.
