Vipraj Nigam, who is part of India squad for the Asian Games 2026 in Japan, is accused of sexual assault on the promise of marriage. The incident allegedly happened at a hotel in Noida in July 2025. According to Dainik Jagran, the alleged victim, who hails from Hyderabad, stood outside Nigam’s house for hours on Sunday, saying she wanted to meet the player, who is in Japan with the Indian National Cricket Team.
It was reported that Vipraj’s father had a word with the woman over the phone and assured her of a conversation after a week. The woman told the newspaper that she wasn’t interested in creating drama and only wanted to speak to Nigam, who received his maiden India call-up as a replacement for Varun Chakravarthy, who was injured after the first T20I against Afghanistan.
Both the woman and Nigam have filed cases against each other. On November 8, 2025, Nigam approached Barabanki Kotwali for a complaint, accusing the woman of calling him from different numbers and threatening to file a false case against him.
The woman filed a complaint against the cricketer at the Expressway Police Station in Gautam Buddha Nagar, accusing him of exploitation. She mentioned that they met through social media in May 2025 and Nigam promised to marry her.
She alleged that Nigam took her to a Noida hotel on July 29, 2025, where he raped and assaulted her. The case was registered on December 16, 2025. Nigam is an all-rounder who plays for Uttar Pradesh in domestic cricket. He has represented the Delhi Capitals in 19 matches, taking 13 wickets at an average of 36.07.
