Indian shooter Neeru Dhanda performed amazingly in the Asian Games 2026 being held in Aichi Nagoya, Japan. Neeru, a resident of Jind district of Haryana, won 3 medals each in the trap shooting event. She created history by winning gold in the individual event after giving India a silver in the women's trap team event on Tuesday (September 29). Neeru became the first Indian woman to win gold in the individual trap event.
Before this, no Indian woman trap or skeet shooter had won an individual medal in the Asiad. Neeru performed brilliantly on Tuesday (September 29) and also created a new Asian record. He scored a total of 28 points in the final, easily surpassing the previous Asian record of 24 points. Talking to the media on this historic achievement of Neeru, his mother Sudesh Devi said that when she got this news, she was going to get wheat for BPL ration.

Sudesh Devi said that Neeru had started training only 3-4 months ago and achieved this position despite financial constraints. Neeru became the first Indian woman to win gold in the trap event at the Shotgun World Cup held in Italy in July this year. Her mother told that with the help received from the government, she is bringing glory to the country at the international level.

Neeru ended the campaign with gold
26-year-old Neeru also performed brilliantly on Wednesday and won the gold medal in the trap mixed team event along with Kainan Chenai. The pair of Neeru and Kainan scored 34 points in the final. Earlier, there was an Asian record of 30 points, which the Indian pair broke and won the gold. In this way, Neeru ended his Asian Games campaign on a happy note with a total of 3 medals including 2 gold.
