The trio of Sonam, Elavenil and Vidharsha won the first medal for India in the Asian Games 2026. Sonam Musker and Elavenil Valarivan have qualified for the individual finals, while Vidharsha Vinod missed out.
The Indian women's hockey team thrashed lowly Uzbekistan 19-0 in their opening Pool B match at the Asian Games on Sunday. Deepika alone scored eight goals in this match. It was expected that this match would be one-sided and it was so, as Uzbekistan's defense could not respond to India's continuous attacks. The difference between the two teams was clearly visible on the field, as India scored goals from the very beginning.
