This time the competition is very interesting. On one hand BJP is trying to score a hat-trick in power, while on the other hand Congress has put in all its strength to end its 10 years of political exile. This time Congress has fielded Gaurav Gogoi as a big challenge to Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.

Meanwhile, AIUDF chief Badruddin Ajmal is trying to make the electoral equation triangular with the help of Muslim vote bank, due to which the contest has become even more complicated. A total of 722 candidates are in the fray in this election held after delimitation, and a tough fight has been seen on every seat. The question now is whether Himanta Biswa Sarma will be able to save his power or will Gaurav Gogoi make a dent in the BJP’s fort.
