New Delhi: Ramanuj Goswami, accused of killing his wife and dismembering her body in Guwahati, has died. According to the police, the accused had allegedly jumped from a moving police vehicle while being taken for medical examination. He suffered serious head injury in this incident. After this he was admitted to Gauhati Medical College and Hospital for treatment, where he died.
It is being told that Ramanujan's seven-day police custody was ending on Sunday and he was to be produced in the court on Monday. Even before this, an incident of jumping from the police vehicle took place.

Ramanuj was married to Riya only last year. It is alleged that on September 3, he murdered his wife. Initial investigation had revealed that Ramanujan suspected that his wife was having an affair with another man. He fled from the spot after the murder. Neighbors became suspicious after smelling foul smell coming from the house and informed the police. When the police reached the house, they were surprised to see the scene inside. A bloodied body was lying on the floor of the house, while the woman's head was wrapped in plastic and kept in the refrigerator.
Threatened to kill wife's 'sugar daddy' too
Ramanujan surrendered before the police the next day after the murder. During custody, he had reportedly said that if he came out of jail, he would not leave his wife's alleged 'sugar daddy' either. He also said that he had no remorse for killing his wife. The police also found several bottles of liquor and a big knife from the rented house of the accused. Locally this type of knife is called 'Dao'. Investigation also revealed that Ramanuj was a drug addict and was undergoing treatment. He was a cab driver by profession.
Neighbors had told the police that there were frequent disputes between the husband and wife. There was a fight between the two on the night of the incident, but later the matter calmed down. The next day, when a strong smell came from the house, the neighbors informed the police, after which the murder was revealed.
