Finally, after keeping everyone waiting for a long time, the Bengaluru-based electric two-wheeler manufacturer Ather Energy will be launching its newest family electric scooter, the Konarc, in India. It will be launched during the Ather Community Day. Now, just before the official launch, the company has shared another new teaser of this family electric scooter, in which it is shown going through extremely rigorous testing. The company claims that the Konarc has gone through 2,000 real-world stress tests to ensure high quality.
The video showing the Ather Energy Konarc going through extremely rigorous testing has been shared on Instagram by the company’s official page. In this video, the Konarc is seen going through multiple stress tests at the company’s testing facility, which is called “The Juggernaut”. In the video, the voiceover highlights, “the best way to build a dependable scooter? Try to break it first.”
During this, it then shows the scooter climbing obstacles while going through various shake tests. Soon after this, the video mentions that at the Juggernaut, the company has tried every way a scooter can fail. It added that with Konarc, the company wanted to build a scooter which is very durable, and for this reason, it has been given a steel frame chassis and metal body panels.
The video then shows the Konarc being dropped from a small height, then its suspension getting fully loaded. Also, the Konarc also gets shaken violently, and its suspension was attached to a machine which took it through rigorous suspension testing. It added that the scooter has gone through testing which is far beyond anything that a normal scooter has to go through.
Apart from these, the video also highlights that with these tests, the scooter has gone through the simulation testing of any scooter which has been driven 1,00,000 km in a compressed amount of time. The scooter was also taken through extreme vibration testing, heavy rain simulations and even flood-like situations. In total, the company has completed 2,000 tests on the Konarc. It concluded by stating that each and every component of this scooter has been tested thoroughly to face whatever comes to it.
The Ather Konarc, those who still might not be aware, will become the third new scooter from the brand, and it has been designed to compete with the traditional family scooters in India. It will become the most affordable scooter in the Ather range and help the company to move beyond its premium, performance-focused positioning and target a much larger commuter market.
It is expected to be positioned below the Rizta and 450 range, with an estimated price of around Rs 1 lakh to Rs 1.25 lakh. The scooter will compete with popular models such as the TVS iQube and Bajaj Chetak. In terms of design, the Konarc takes inspiration from the EL01 concept showcased by Ather previously. It will feature a more conventional family-scooter design with a handlebar-mounted headlamp and a wide LED DRL on the front apron.
The scooter will also get a 14-inch front wheel and 12-inch rear wheel. Another major highlight will be its metal body. This will make the Konarc the first production Ather scooter to use metal body panels. As per the reports, it could be offered with multiple battery options and IDC-certified ranges of around 100 km, 125 km, 160 km and up to 200 km, depending on the variant. It is also expected to feature Ather’s new charging setup, with an additional 450W charger which will enable 900W charging and an estimated 0-80 percent charging time of around two hours.
