‘Attack on Indian ships will not be tolerated’, Trump’s big allegation on Iran, tension increased before the agreement
New Delhi: Amid ongoing diplomatic efforts regarding the proposed agreement between America and Iran, US President Donald Trump has taken a sharp stance against Iran. Before the possible agreement, Trump issued a strong message on social media, making serious allegations against Iran and warning it about its activities.
Trump’s claim
Trump claimed in his statement that an attempt was made to target Indian ships near the Strait of Hormuz. He said that recently an attempt was made to carry out a drone attack on Indian ships passing through this important sea route, but the security agencies foiled it in time. The US President directly held Iran responsible for this alleged incident and said that such activities cannot be accepted on international sea routes.
He said that attempts to target Indian ships are a very serious matter and such steps pose a threat to regional stability. Trump demanded immediate change in its policies and behavior from Iran and said that the world will no longer ignore such incidents.
In his statement, Trump also rejected those reports which allegedly claimed that some terms of the US-Iran agreement were made public. He said that the information revealed in the media does not match the actual negotiations and the terms that have been made public have no connection with the proposed agreement. According to Trump, many things being spread about the agreement are misleading and factual.
Iran’s diplomatic strategy
Taking aim at Iran’s diplomatic strategy, Trump said that contradictory signals are being continuously given from Tehran’s side. He alleged that there was a lack of honesty and transparency during the talks, which made it difficult to build trust. Describing Iran’s attitude as disappointing, Trump said that clarity and trust are the most important elements in international agreements.
In the background of this entire controversy is the report of Iran’s government media, in which it was claimed that despite any possible agreement, its influence and control over the Strait of Hormuz will remain. After this, Trump’s sharp reaction has further exposed the growing tension between the two countries.
Analysts believe that this round of rhetoric between the two sides could be part of a strategy to create diplomatic pressure before a possible agreement. However, Trump’s latest statement has definitely indicated that even in the final phase of talks, differences between the two countries have not completely ended.
