Ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Bengaluru, gelatin sticks were recovered today from a location situated just a short distance from the venue on the outskirts of the city.

New Delhi: Ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Bengaluru, gelatin sticks were recovered today from a location situated just a short distance from the venue on the outskirts of the city. The recovery of these gelatin sticks in proximity to the PM’s event venue has caused a major security scare. These explosives were found near an ashram in Kaggalipura, Bengaluru, located approximately 3 kilometers away from the main venue where PM Modi was scheduled to attend an event.

According to the news agency ANI, following the recovery of the explosives, the DIG of the Bengaluru Central Range stated that two gelatin sticks were found along a roadside footpath on Sunday morning during routine security checks being conducted before PM Modi’s arrival. “This location was about 3 km away from the main venue where the PM was scheduled to participate,” the DIG noted.

DIG Provides Key Details

The DIG of the Bengaluru Central Range further informed that, following the incident, security agencies immediately cordoned off the area. A bomb disposal squad and a forensic team were dispatched to the site, where the recovered materials were examined. Further investigations into this matter are currently underway.

Significantly, this incident has come to light just one day after intelligence agencies issued alerts regarding potential terror threats. Consequently, the Delhi Police and other security agencies have decided to significantly heighten surveillance at various sensitive locations.

According to the news agency PTI, an official stated that the police have been instructed to maintain a strict vigil on suspicious activities, unattended luggage, and parked vehicles in sensitive areas.

Police Conducting Thorough Investigation

The Bengaluru Police have launched a thorough investigation into this matter. Police officials are currently attempting to ascertain how the gelatin sticks ended up at that specific location and whether there was a larger conspiracy behind the incident. This incident surfaced as PM Narendra Modi was preparing to visit the Art of Living Foundation—an organization founded by Sri Sri Ravi Shankar and located on the outskirts of Bengaluru—for an event.
