Weather will worsen in North India including Delhi for 5 days, IMD issues alert
The weather has once again taken a turn in many parts of the country. The Meteorological Department has issued a warning of rain, strong storm and lightning for the next five days for many states of North India. There is a possibility of bad weather in many areas including Delhi, Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh between 10 and 14 May. During this period, strong winds may blow along with moderate rain, due to which the temperature is expected to drop.
Impact of weather is greater in hilly states
The effect of weather will be more visible in hilly states also. Rain is expected in Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh on May 11 and 12 and snowfall in high altitude areas. Whereas in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand, there is a possibility of hailstorm on 12th and 13th May. According to the Meteorological Department, there will be intermittent rains in these states from May 11 to 15, due to which local people and tourists have been advised to remain alert.
The weather will also change in Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan. There may be rain and thundershowers in Western Uttar Pradesh on May 12 and 13, while in Eastern Uttar Pradesh on May 13 and 14. There is a possibility of rain in many parts of Rajasthan on 11 and 12 May. However, the effect of heat will remain in the western parts of the state and Gujarat. Heat wave is expected to prevail in Western Rajasthan and Gujarat from May 10 to 14, while in some parts of Eastern Rajasthan and Western Madhya Pradesh, strong hot winds may trouble people.
Pre-monsoon activities intensify in South India
Pre-monsoon activities have intensified in South India. An alert of heavy rain has been issued in Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal for the next seven days. There is a possibility of rain and thundershowers in Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Lakshadweep. The Meteorological Department has advised to take special precautions regarding lightning and strong winds in these states.
The weather will also be active in Northeast India. There is a possibility of intermittent rain and strong winds in Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Tripura, Nagaland, Manipur and Mizoram for the next few days.
Appeal to take necessary precautions
Apart from this, a low pressure area is likely to form in the Bay of Bengal in the next 48 hours, which may impact the weather of eastern and southern India in the coming days. The Meteorological Department has appealed to the people to keep an eye on the latest updates and take necessary precautions.
