Bank Holidays: August 2026 is now coming to an end. There are still 14 days left for the month to end. Let us tell you that out of the remaining 14 days, banks in many parts of the country will remain closed and banks will remain open only for 7 days. So if you have to go to the branch of State Bank of India (SBI), HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank or any other bank to withdraw cash or for other important purposes, then check beforehand.
When will banks open and on what days will they remain closed?
In the coming week, banks in most parts of the country will work normally on August 17 (Monday), August 18 (Tuesday), August 20 (Thursday) and August 21 (Friday).
- August 19 (Wednesday): Banks will remain closed only in Agartala due to the birth anniversary of Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya Bahadur.
- 22 August (Saturday): Being the fourth Saturday of the month, banks will remain closed across the country.
- 23 August (Sunday): Banks will remain closed across the country due to weekly holiday.

Let us tell you, on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, banks will remain closed only in Agartala due to the birth anniversary of Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya Bahadur. After this, 22nd August 2026 is Saturday and as it is the fourth Saturday of the month, banks will remain closed in the entire country. 23 August 2026 is Sunday and due to weekly holiday all banks will remain closed across the country.
Tuesday, August 25, 2026, is the festival of Eid-e-Milad / Milad-un-Nabi, due to which banks will remain closed in some states. The first Onam is Wednesday, 26 August 2026, due to which banks will remain closed in Kerala. Rakshabandhan will be celebrated on Friday, 28 August 2026 and on this day banks will remain closed in some states including Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat and Rajasthan. On the last Sunday of the month, 30 August 2026, banks will remain closed across the country due to weekly holiday.
Digital banking services will continue
Despite bank branches being closed, customers do not need to panic. During this period, services like internet banking, mobile banking, UPI and ATM will continue to work without any interruption.
However, customers who need to visit the bank branch for any specific work should plan in advance so that the important work is completed on time.
