Auqib Nabi chosen for India nets ahead of one-off Test vs Afghanistan with six others:
Read, Digital Desk : India has selected Auqib Nabi to bowl in its nets in preparation for the one-off Test against Afghanistan, according to a BCCI source. Several people questioned Nabi’s exclusion from the Indian team’s Mullanpur Test squad following his brilliant performance in Jammu and Kashmir’s Ranji Trophy victory.
Along with six other players, Nabi has been called to bowl as a net bowler for India’s upcoming one-off Test against Afghanistan. Leg spinner Zeeshan Ansari, who also plays for the Sunrisers Hyderabad, has been selected to serve as a net bowler.
“Yes, Auqib Nabi has been invited to join the India nets. Six others have also been called up. Since Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna are currently in tough schedules with traveling three games in seven days and with weather concerns, it is not possible for them to practice in the net at full pace.
Nabi not chosen for India
There was much speculation surrounding Nabi’s exclusion from India’s Test squad when he had such a strong Ranji Trophy showing, where he was instrumental in Jammu and Kashmir’s maiden championship win. He ended the season as the top wicket-taker, claiming 60 wickets in 17 innings at an average of 12.65. Agarkar addressed the issue of the fast bowler’s absence from the team, especially with stars like Jasprit Bumrah, Harshit Rana, and Akash Deep unavailable.
“We chose the three in the squad for now, and there were definitely discussions. Undoubtedly, he has achieved some outstanding performances for Jammu & Kashmir.” chief selector Ajit Agarkar had remarked after announcing the squad.
India will host Afghanistan for the Test and ODIs
