New Delhi: The troubles of senior Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan seem to be increasing once again. After hearing the case related to him, the PMLA court of Ghaziabad has ordered to send him to judicial custody for 14 days. After this he will be kept in Dasna jail. At the same time, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) is also preparing to get his custody for questioning.
According to sources associated with ED, the investigating agency may apply for police custody remand of Azam Khan in the PMLA court of Ghaziabad in the next one or two days. The agency wants to know from him the answers to the questions related to the case. If the court accepts ED's demand, Azam Khan can be taken to Lucknow for questioning. At present the court has directed to keep him in judicial custody for 14 days.
ED presented its arguments in the court
During the hearing on Sunday, the Enforcement Directorate presented information about the case related to Azam Khan before the court. The investigating agency had demanded 14 days' custody from him. In its arguments, ED raised the issue of alleged irregularities in the funding of Jauhar University and the money transactions related to it. The agency told the court that many aspects related to the money trail are being investigated in the investigation of the case. ED says that it is necessary to collect information about financial transactions related to the funds received by the university and its use. On this basis, the investigating agency demanded custody of Azam Khan for questioning.
Jauhar University's funding under scrutiny
In this case related to Azam Khan, funding of Jauhar University remains an important issue. The ED presented facts and money transactions related to alleged financial irregularities in the court. The investigating agency is trying to find out where the money for the university came from and how it was used. At present, following the court order, Azam Khan has been sent to Dasna jail.
