Badrinath Temple Donation Controversy: Amidst the Ram temple offering controversy of Ayodhya, now a major administrative action has been taken in the matter of alleged irregularities related to offerings in Badrinath Dham of Uttarakhand. Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee (BKTC) has suspended Pramod Nautiyal, private secretary of the committee chairman, with immediate effect. Also they were issued a ‘show cause notice’ Instructions have been given to give written explanation within 48 hours.
Suspicious activity captured in CCTV footage
According to the notice issued by BKTC, during the review of CCTV footage of July 2, 2026, it came to light that Pramod Nautiyal was seen keeping some items with him along with his mobile phone, different from the normal procedure, during the counting of thali offering. The committee says that this entire incident has been recorded in CCTV cameras. On this basis, he has been asked what he had kept with him and to give its explanation within 48 hours.
Legal action will be taken if not answered
The temple committee has made it clear in the notice that if a satisfactory reply is not given within the stipulated time limit, legal action will be initiated against them as per rules. The committee has described this act as contrary to the prescribed procedure of thali offering calculation.
Chief Minister Dhami gave instructions for investigation
Taking the matter seriously, the Uttarakhand government has also become active. According to reports, on the instructions of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, the investigation of the entire matter can be handed over to Garhwal Divisional Commissioner Anand Swarup. An official order for this is likely to be issued soon.
Preparation to form a high level investigation committee
According to the information, a high level investigation committee will be formed under the chairmanship of the Commissioner. Former Chamoli District Magistrate and current GMVN Managing Director IAS Sandeep Tiwari can be included in this. Along with him, Finance Controller of National Health Mission, Jagat Chauhan is also likely to become a member of the committee.

Action started after allegations of Hindu organizations
It is noteworthy that on July 3, a Hindu organization had made allegations of alleged irregularities and theft in the offerings in Badrinath temple. After this, BKTC President had constituted a four-member committee for preliminary investigation, which has reached Badrinath and started the investigation. After the preliminary investigation report, a high level committee to be formed at the government level will conduct a detailed investigation of the entire matter. At present, Pramod Nautiyal’s reply and the report of the inquiry committee are awaited.
