Prohibitory orders have been imposed under Section 163 of BNSS in New Delhi district, banning crowds, processions and demonstrations. Due to this, DMRC has closed the entry and exit of 11 major metro stations till further orders.
New Delhi: The administration has taken strict steps regarding security and public order in New Delhi district of the capital Delhi. With prohibitory orders imposed under Section 163 of the Indian Civil Security Code (BNSS), activities like gathering of crowds, processions and demonstrations have been banned in many major areas. Meanwhile, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has issued a notice to keep the entry and exit of 11 major metro stations closed till further orders.
‘The doors are closed, but the journey continues’
According to DMRC, the entry and exit of Janpath, Patel Chowk, Central Secretariat, Rajiv Chowk, Seva Tirtha, Mandi House, Lok Kalyan Marg, INA, Chawri Bazaar, Ramakrishna Ashram Marg and New Delhi Metro stations will remain closed for the time being.
However, it is a matter of relief for the passengers that interchange facility will be available between the metro lines at Rajiv Chowk, Mandi House, INA, New Delhi and Central Secretariat stations. That is, passengers will be able to change lines at these stations, but the facility to exit or enter the station from outside will remain closed.
Restriction on gathering beyond ‘five’ in New Delhi district
Important information issued under the security arrangements states that no public meeting or gathering of five or more people can be held without prior written permission. Along with this, there will be a ban on processions, demonstrations, picketing, sloganeering and speeches. Not only this, there will also be a ban on carrying firearms, banners, posters, sticks, swords, sticks, bricks and stones or other such items without permission.
Safety first, everything else later’
The administration has appealed to the citizens, visitors and all concerned to strictly follow the prohibitory orders. It has been made clear in the order that any kind of unauthorized gathering or prohibited activity will have to be avoided. Violation of the order can lead to action under Section 223 of BNS and other applicable legal provisions.
At present, vigilance has been increased regarding security arrangements in major metro routes of Delhi and New Delhi district. Regarding the stations closed by DMRC, it has been said that the entry and exit will remain closed till further orders.
