What is ‘Donald Trump’ buffalo, which was going to be sacrificed on Bakrid in Bangladesh; How were lives saved after the video went viral?

These days, a unique buffalo in Bangladesh has become the center of discussion among people on social media. This albino buffalo, popularly known as Donald Trump, was sold for sacrifice on Eid-ul-Adha (Bakrid), but after the viral video and huge interest of the people, the government intervened at the last moment and saved his life.

Because of the tufts of golden hair and facial structure, this buffalo started being compared to America’s President Donald Trump. Within no time its video went viral on social media and crowds of people started gathering at the farm to see it. In view of security concerns, the administration finally had to take a decision to save this buffalo.

Where was the buffalo sent?

This albino buffalo weighing about 1,500 pounds will now be kept in the Bangladesh National Zoo in Dhaka. Earlier it was sold for religious sacrifice, but due to increasing interest of the people and security reasons, the government bought it. According to government officials, now instead of sacrificing this rare animal, it will be kept for public display, so that people can see it safely.

Why was the decision taken?

A ministry official said that this decision was taken due to the ever increasing crowd and security concerns. “At the last moment, in view of security concerns and immense public interest, it was decided not to sacrifice the buffalo,” the official said. Zoo administration says that after it went viral on social media, people were coming in large numbers to see this buffalo, due to which the security arrangements were getting affected.

Why was it named Donald Trump?

The buffalo’s owner, 38-year-old Zia Uddin Mridha, said that because of the golden hair on his head, he was jokingly named Donald Trump. He said, “My younger brother jokingly named it Donald Trump after seeing the hair on its head. It is very peaceful by nature. Albino buffaloes are generally peace-loving and do not become aggressive unless provoked.”

What is an albino buffalo like?

Albino buffalo are considered very rare in South Asia. Their nature is generally calm and they do not become aggressive without provocation. It is being told that this buffalo was given nutritious diet of maize, soybean and bran, due to which its body looks strong and attractive.
