It is alleged that some unknown people kidnapped him, kept him hostage for several hours, brutally beat him, mentally tortured him and then after collecting ransom from his family, threw him on the road in a half-dead condition.

Had left home, but my whole life changed on the way.

According to local media reports, Subhash Deuri is a law student at Jagannath University of Dhaka. He is originally from Magura district and lived in a rented house with a friend in Dhaka for studies. He came out of the house around 11:30 pm on Monday night, but he had no idea that the most frightening chapter of his life was going to begin shortly thereafter.

First kidnapped, then merciless torture began

It is alleged that some unknown people kidnapped him on the way. After this, he was taken to a secluded place and kept hostage for hours. According to reports, the kidnappers beat her badly, removed her clothes and subjected her to continuous physical and mental torture. Not only this, he was forced to call his family and friends and ask for money.

Friend got a call but couldn’t help

Subhash’s roommate Durjay Saha told that he received a call from his mobile at night. From the other side Subhash was requesting to send money. But he did not have enough money to help immediately. After this the kidnappers directly contacted Subhash’s family and started demanding ransom.

Ask for 30 thousand taka from sister

Subhash’s sister Jaya told the local media that a call was received from her brother’s mobile at around 1 am on Tuesday. An unknown person present on the phone demanded 30 thousand Bangladeshi Taka and asked to transfer the money by sending the bank account number. The family somehow arranged for 26 thousand taka and sent the amount. As soon as the money was received, the kidnappers released Subhash, but he was not left safe.

Student found unconscious on the road

After receiving the ransom, the accused left Subhash in an unconscious state on a road in the old area of Dhaka. On Tuesday morning his friends saw him there and immediately took him to Dhaka Medical College Hospital. His condition in the hospital was said to be critical and his treatment is continuing under the supervision of doctors.

Mobile and wallet also missing

Subhash’s friends say that when he was taken to the hospital, both his mobile phone and wallet were missing. When he regained consciousness, he told that the kidnappers tortured him for hours and forced him to get money from the family.

Was religious identity the reason or just ransom?

At present it is not clear whether Subhash was targeted because of his Hindu identity and being a priest in the temple or it was just a kidnapping for ransom. The police have not yet reached any conclusion and the investigation into the case is ongoing.
