Bangladesh PM Tariq Rahman sent a message to India

Bangladesh Prime Minister Tariq Rahman has sent an important message to India. Expressing concern over the incident of killing of two Bangladeshi citizens on the border with India on Sunday (May 10, 2026), the senior adviser to the PM said that we want to establish ‘friendly relations’ with New Delhi.

The Border Security Force (BSF) shot dead two suspected Bangladeshi smugglers in Tripura’s Sepahijala district on Friday night. Later, both the bodies were handed over to their families through Kamalasagar border post in the presence of BSF and Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) officials.

Prime Minister’s Political Advisor Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said on Sunday, ‘We want friendly relations, but good relations cannot be maintained if the border keeps turning red with blood again and again.’

While addressing the national convention of Diploma Engineers here, Rizvi raised the issue of killing of two suspected smugglers. He said, ‘Yesterday also two people were shot at Brahmanbaria border.’

After Mohammad Yunus came to power in Bangladesh, relations with India deteriorated and now elections have been held there. After the victory of BNP, Tariq Rahman has become the Prime Minister of Bangladesh and now he wants to improve relations with Delhi. Meanwhile, India has appointed former Union Minister Dinesh Trivedi as the next High Commissioner of India to Bangladesh so that the old warmth can return in the relations between the two countries.

Rizvi, senior joint general secretary of the ruling Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), said the people of India also do not want to see such incidents. Referring to the recent state elections in India, Rizvi said that this is entirely an internal matter of the people of India, which will be decided by them.
