Bangladeshi infiltrators will no longer be able to come, high alert on Bihar-Bengal border

After the strict action being taken against infiltrators in West Bengal and the pushback policy of the government there, its direct effect is now clearly visible in Seemanchal area of Bihar. Due to the continuous crackdown in Bengal, Katihar Police fears that the suspects may now try to take shelter in the border areas of Bihar. In view of this danger, Katihar administration has tightened its security arrangements and now the police is keeping a close watch everywhere from villages to river ghats.

About 90 km area of Katihar is adjacent to the border of West Bengal. There are many such villages in blocks like Ahmedabad, Barsoi, Azamnagar, Pranpur and Balrampur where Bihar falls on one side of the road and West Bengal on the other. The administration fears that after increasing pressure in Bengal, suspicious people may take advantage of these routes. For this reason, the police have started checking all the vehicles by setting up check posts on the border roads and keeping a close watch on every new face.

Increased surveillance in villages

To further strengthen the security, the police have asked the village watchmen, Panchayat head and other people to remain fully alert. The police have also warned their information gathering team. Police vigil has been significantly increased in the areas of Chowkia Paharpur, Bhawanipur Khatti, Durgapur and Lakhanpur Panchayat of Ahmedabad. Here, intermittent investigation campaign is being conducted near Harimohan Chowk and Bhagwan Tola. The police are more worried about the villages situated on the banks of the Mahananda River because people can move secretly through the river routes, which is a big challenge for security.

Increased patrolling in sensitive areas

The area named Barsoi is considered to be the most sensitive because its border is connected to Malda and North Dinajpur districts of Bengal for about 35 kilometers. Here, surveillance has been further increased by setting up check posts in areas like Sankola, Swaroopganj and Karanpur-Bilaspur. Apart from this, the police are keeping a close watch on the river routes like Bariol Ghat, Tarapur-Gorahar Ghat, Damdoliya-Wajidpur Ghat and Bahin Ghat where there is movement of boats. The police is very cautious about these ghats.

Police are also keeping constant vigil in Pranpur and Azamnagar. In Gauripur Panchayat, the check posts of Bihar and Bengal are just 500 meters away from each other, where every small and big vehicle is being stopped and checked. People of villages like Baliyapara, Panka and Bathna-Rahi have also been appealed to keep an eye on their surroundings and immediately inform the police if they see any unknown person. Security has also been tightened around Sharifnagar, Mahishal, Fatehpur, Bhemiyal and Lohgara panchayats of Balrampur.
