Bankipur by-election: Election atmosphere heated due to road show of Nitin Naveen-Samrat Chaudhary, Prashant Kishore made serious allegations

Knews Desk- The election campaign has reached its peak ahead of the by-election on July 30 for the high-profile Bankipur assembly seat in Bihar. On Monday, Bharatiya Janata Party demonstrated its electoral strength by taking out a huge road show under the leadership of National President Nitin Naveen and Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary. On the other hand, Jan Suraj founder Prashant Kishore further intensified the political contest by accusing the NDA government of influencing the electoral process.

The road show organized on Monday started from Bhattacharya Mod and ended near Gandhi Maidan via Peermuhani, Buddha Murti, Sahitya Sammelan and Dariyapur. Nitin Naveen and Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary were present on the open chariot along with BJP candidate Neeraj Kumar Sinha. Party supporters welcomed the leaders by showering flowers all along the way, while the entire area was seen colored in election colors with drums and slogans.

Support sought on development issue

During the road show, Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary appealed to the people to vote in favor of the NDA candidate. He said that the victory of BJP candidate is necessary to speed up Metro, JP Ganga Path and other development projects in Patna. Taking aim at the opposition, he said that some leaders are visible among the public only at the time of elections, whereas the NDA government is continuously engaged in serving the people.

BJP leaders claim that this road show has brought new enthusiasm among the workers. The party says that the workers have become active till the booth level and are going door to door to convey the achievements and development works of the government to the public. BJP believes that its strong support base in Bankipur will remain intact this time also.

On the other hand, Jan Suraj founder Prashant Kishore accused BJP and the state government of trying to influence the elections. He claimed that the government machinery and livelihood groups were being used for electoral gains. Prashant Kishor gave a 24-hour ultimatum to the Election Commission and said that if action was not taken on the complaints, his supporters would stage a protest outside the Commission’s office.

PK continuously active among the public

These days, Prashant Kishore is running a padyatra and public relations campaign in Bankipur. He says that people who have been suffering from water logging and other basic problems for a long time want change this time. He claimed that the public can move away from traditional political equations and choose a new option.

After Monday’s developments, the Bankipur election has become more interesting. On one hand, BJP is claiming victory on the basis of its organization and leadership, while on the other hand, Prashant Kishor is fighting for the issue of change. Now all eyes are on the voting to be held on July 30 and its results, which will decide on whom the people of Bankipur will trust.
