Digital Desk, New Delhi. The BCCI announced the 15-member Indian squad for the 2026 Women’s Asia Cup on Sunday (August 2). Harmanpreet Kaur has been named captain and Smriti Mandhana vice-captain. Following the T20 World Cup loss, there were calls for Harmanpreet Kaur’s removal from captaincy, but the selectors have once again expressed confidence in her.

These new faces got a chance
The Asia Cup squad features mostly the same players who played in the T20 World Cup. Several players, including Shafali Verma, Jemimah Rodrigues, Richa Ghosh, and Bharati Phoolmali, have retained their places in the squad. Shreyanka Patil has not returned as she has not recovered from an ankle injury. Young and new faces like Prema Rawat, G. Kamalini, and Kranti Goud have been included in the main squad.
The schedule for the Women’s Asia Cup 2026 has not yet been released, but it is speculated that the tournament will begin in the last week of August and continue until mid-September. The Asian Games will begin immediately after the Asia Cup. The Indian cricket team’s matches at the Asian Games will be played from September 17th to September 22nd.
