Suryakumar will not captain the Asian Games, Laxman will be the head coach of the team, long list of 30 players ready

Asian Games Cricket Squad: There has been a major reshuffle in BCCI’s 30-member probable player list for the Asian Games to be held in Japan. T20 captain Suryakumar Yadav has not found a place in this list, while young sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi has been included.

A big news has come out regarding the selection of the Indian cricket team for the upcoming Asian Games (Asian Games) to be held in Japan from September 19 this year. Indian T-20 team captain Suryakumar Yadav will not be a part of the Indian team in the Asian Games this time.

Young sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi included among probables

The 30-member ‘long list’ of probable players sent by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to the Asian Games organisers. Suryakumar Yadav has not been given a place. This decision has surprised cricket lovers and experts. The biggest surprising name among Suryakumar Yadav not getting a place is that of 15-year-old young batsman Vaibhav Suryavanshi. Vaibhav, who made a splash with his bat in the IPL, had made a strong claim to be included in the senior Indian team on the basis of his excellent performance.

By including him among the probables for Asiad, BCCI has given a clear indication that he can soon be seen in the jersey of the main Indian team. Before the Asian Games, India has to go on tours of Ireland, England and Sri Lanka, where glory can be tested.

Laxman will take over as head coach

This time, head coach Gautam Gambhir will not go with Team India in the Asian Games. His name is not included in the long list. In the absence of Gambhir, BCCI has given place to former legendary batsman VVS Laxman in its long list as the head coach.

Men’s cricket matches in the Asian Games will start from 24 September and continue till 3 October. BCCI will select the final 15-member main team from this 30-member long list. It is noteworthy that in the year 2023, India had won the gold medal under the captaincy of Ruturaj Gaikwad, 9 members of that team are included in the probable list this time too.
