The Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) was held on Friday. In this meeting, along with taking an important decision regarding the Chairman of the Selection Committee, Ajit Agarkar, information was also given about the preparations for the BCCI Centenary Year.

Meanwhile, the tenure of Ajit Agarkar, chairman of the selection committee, will end on October 6, 2026. Meanwhile, BCCI is looking for a new president in his place. After the meeting, a senior BCCI official told the media that some officials have been selected to take a decision on the selection committee. Apart from that, he did not give any other information to the media. BCCI's 95th AGM was attended by representatives of various state cricket teams. Bengal Cricket Association representative and former India captain Sourav Ganguly and Karnataka State Cricket Association representative and former fast bowler Venkatesh Prasad were also present in this meeting.

MCA's major demand to BCCI

Apart from the selection of the Chairman of the Senior Selection Committee, the BCCI is considering the process of filling all the five posts of the Junior Selection Committee. Meanwhile, the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) has requested the board to consider Mumbai primarily during some major matches. Secretary of MCA Unmesh Khanvilkar gave information about this. No Test match has been played at the prestigious Wankhede Stadium for the past two years. The last Test match played here was against New Zealand at the end of 2024. Preparations for the centenary year begin

BCCI issued a press release after the meeting. The press release stated that the process of planning BCCI's centenary year in 2028 has been initiated. This centenary year will be celebrated through various programs starting from December 2027 till 2028. It has also been mentioned that this will be an important moment in the history of Indian cricket.
