Controversy over the date of birth of BCCI President Mithun Manhas, court orders investigation

Controversy has arisen regarding the date of birth of BCCI President Mithun Manhas. The Special Railway Magistrate Court of Jammu has ordered an investigation into the matter. Nawabad Police has been asked to present the investigation report in the court by September 3, 2026. However, no order has been given to register FIR yet.

The matter came to light after a complaint by Sudarshan Mehta, former joint honorary secretary of Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association and former deputy SP. They allege that to get eligibility to play at the national level in junior cricket, Manhas recorded different dates of birth in different records.

Different date of birth in two records

According to the complaint, Manhas' date of birth in the records of MHAC School, Nagbani is 9 December 1977, whereas on the DDCA website it is claimed to be 12 October 1979. There is a difference of about two years between the two dates. Based on this, the complainant has demanded action in cases related to fraud and forgery.

From J&K to Delhi and then to BCCI

Manhas played cricket for J&K Under-15, Under-16 and Under-19 teams. He came into limelight in 1995 after scoring around 750 runs at the Under-19 level. In 1997, he made his Ranji Trophy debut for Delhi.

Under the leadership of Manhas, who captained Delhi from 2006 to 2008, the team won the Ranji Trophy in 2007–08. He made his IPL debut with Delhi Daredevils in 2008 and later played for Pune Warriors India and Chennai Super Kings.

Manhas was elected BCCI President in September 2025. He is the first person from Jammu and Kashmir to reach this post. Now the allegations made regarding the date of birth will become clear only from the police investigation report.
