BCCI: Fans are currently unhappy with the Indian cricket team’s performance. The BCCI is also looking to address a major issue. Team India has been struggling with injuries for the past two to three years, preventing them from playing with their main team in several series. Following the conclusion of the Sri Lanka tour, the BCCI has summoned all its star players to the Center of Excellence for fitness testing. Only two players who played on the Sri Lanka tour have been exempted.
BCCI called the star players of Team India
Following the conclusion of the Sri Lanka tour, the BCCI invited its star players for fitness tests. Experienced all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant, and opener Yashasvi Jaiswal, along with T20 captain Shreyas Iyer, T20 specialist Rinku Singh, Sanju Samson, and Chennai Super Kings captain Ruturaj Gaikwad, among others, were seen sweating it out in the BCCI fitness test.
The fitness test includes the Bronco Test, the 2-kilometer run, the Yo-Yo test, and cricket-related drills like running between the wickets. In the Bronco Test, cones are placed at the starting point (0 meters), 20 meters, 40 meters, and 60 meters. Players must run from 0 to 20 meters and back, then 40 meters and 60 meters, in five sets without stopping. The total distance of 1200 meters must be covered in 5 minutes and 30 seconds. The Yo-Yo test standard has long been 16.5, while the 2-kilometer run (2000 meters) must be completed within 10 minutes.

Siraj and Krishna got exemption
Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna have been exempted from this fitness test. The team wants to give them some rest for now. The BCCI will continue to conduct these fitness tests periodically until the start of IPL 2027. However, Jasprit Bumrah, Hardik Pandya, and Nitish Kumar Reddy will only participate in these fitness tests once they are declared fully fit.
These players are currently undergoing rehabilitation to recover from their injuries. The BCCI wants to complete these fitness tests before the start of the domestic season. Meanwhile, Prince Yadav, who suffered a hamstring injury during the England tour, is now fit and available for selection. Team India is scheduled to play back-to-back series starting September 13th.
