IPL 2026: Making video during the match was costly, BCCI reprimanded former cricketers; Warning to commentators and players

BCCI Latest News: BCCI has taken a big step regarding anti-corruption rules during IPL. Now, along with the players, commentators, broadcasters, family members and social media content creators are also being closely monitored. The objective of the board is to maintain the security and confidentiality of the tournament.

Commentators received strict warning

According to reports, some former international cricketers, who are doing commentary in IPL, were caught making videos in the secure area i.e. PMOA (Players and Match Officials Area) during the match. A former player was stopped while recording video near the dugout. After this, BCCI took a strict stance and reprimanded him and started preparations to send a legal notice. According to the rules of the board, making personal videos while wearing official IPL dress on the field or in the secure area is prohibited.

Keep an eye on social media influencers also

BCCI is also worried that many players are getting too close to social media influencers and vloggers. The board fears that this could increase “honey traps” or other security risks. Some franchises have also expressed displeasure over giving influencers access inside the team. Now such activities will be closely monitored so that the safety of the players and confidential information is protected.

Instructions to players and families also

The board has also advised the players’ family and close friends to avoid posting photos and videos. In many cases, players share videos on social media before or after the match, which reveal clues related to team strategy or playing eleven. Earlier too, an Indian fast bowler has been warned for promoting the team hotel video recorded by his wife.

Rules will be applicable in domestic leagues also

The Anti Corruption Unit has also objected to players taking friends or family on the team bus. Now these strict rules will not be limited to IPL only, but will also be implemented in the local T20 leagues of the states. BCCI believes that it is very important to present the right example of discipline and safety to the young players.
