India's leading car production company Maruti Suzuki's popular van 'Eco' has crossed the historic milestone of total sales of 1.5 lakh vehicles in the country. Launched in January 2010 and replacing the 'Omni', this van has achieved this feat in just 16 years. Interestingly, the last 5 lakh units were sold in just three and a half years, making it the fastest sales milestone in Eco's history.
Sales speed and customer preference
Fast growing sales: The Eco took 8 years (2010-2018) to sell the first 5 lakh units, the next 5 lakh units were sold in less than 5 years, while the last 5 lakh units were sold in just three and a half years despite the growing trend of compact SUVs.

Rural area and professional preference: 65% of Eco's total sales in FY 2025-26 will come from rural areas. In addition, 55% of customers are first-time car buyers, while more than 51% of customers are oriented.
13 different variants: Eco is available in 13 variants including Tour V, Ambulance and Cargo along with 5 and 6 seater passenger variants.
engine, mileage and safety features
Engine Options: It gets Maruti's 1.2 liter K-series Dual Jet Dual VVT petrol engine. The petrol version returns a mileage of 19.71 km/litre while the S-CNG version returns a mileage of 26.78 km/kg.
CNG Increasing demand for: The S-CNG model's share of Eco's total sales has increased from 12 per cent in FY 2019-20 to 48 per cent in FY 2025-26.
