Mumbai: In a major action, the Customs Department at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport in the capital Mumbai has arrested a female model returning from Bangkok with drugs worth crores of rupees. Investigation revealed that a huge quantity of hydroponic ganja was recovered from the trolley bag of the woman, whose value in the international market is said to be more than Rs 11 crore.
Case opened due to suspicious activity
According to the information, the 28-year-old woman had reached Mumbai from Bangkok. When his activities at the airport seemed suspicious, the Air Intelligence Unit (AIU) and customs officials stopped him and interrogated him. After this his luggage was thoroughly examined. During the search, 12 vacuum-sealed plastic packets were found in the trolley bag. When the officials examined these packets, they were found to contain intoxicants.
More than 11 kg of hydroponic ganja recovered
According to the Customs Department, the recovered packets contained a total of 11.824 kg of hydroponic ganja. This was confirmed after testing with NDPS test kit. It is considered a high quality intoxicant, which is in great demand in the international market. Officials say that the estimated value of the seized drugs is around Rs 11.82 crore.
Name is associated with beauty pageant
The arrested woman has been identified as Harsha Sunny. It is being told that she has been a participant in the ‘Mrs. Kerala’ beauty pageant organized in the year 2025. Apart from this, she has also worked as a relationship manager in a private company. After this revelation, questions have also started being raised about the possible relationship between the glamor world and drug smuggling.
Court sent him to judicial custody
The Custom Department has registered a case against the woman under the NDPS Act. After his arrest, he was produced in the court, from where he was sent to judicial custody. At present, the investigating agencies are busy finding out for whom this consignment of drugs was brought and whether any big smuggling network is active behind it.
