Ben Affleck says ex Jennifer Garner, Kerry Washington have ‘twin spirits’

Ben Affleck has found a surprising similarity between his ex-wife Jennifer Garner and his Animals co-star Kerry Washington, saying the two actresses share what he calls “twin spirits.”

Affleck made the comparison during a recent appearance on Washington’s Street You Grew Up On podcast, where he praised both women for regularly going the extra mile for their crews.

“You and Jen Garner, by the way — talk about twin spirits. You’re the two — the only people I know who regularly bake for the crew,” he said.

The actor joked that their generosity makes him feel as though he is not doing enough by comparison.

“It’s like this is the category of people who make you feel like an ass no matter how hard you try,” Affleck said, adding that Garner and Washington are “always doing you one step better with everybody else.”

He recalled trying to organise gifts for a crew, only to discover Washington had already gone further.

“I’m like, ‘Yeah, I’m gonna get something, like a wrap gift for the (crew),’ and they’re like, ‘So did you get Kerry’s donuts today? Tomorrow she’s doing Halloween muffins,’” he said, calling her generosity “amazing” and “a gift.”

Affleck and Washington play a married couple in Netflix’s Animalswhich Affleck wrote and directed. Garner was originally considered for Washington’s role, with Matt Damon attached to Affleck’s character.

Affleck previously told Entertainment Weekly that he thought Garner “would be amazing for this role” and liked the idea that their shared parenting schedules could allow them to spend more time with their children.
