Ben Stokes made the record of most sixes in Test before retirement

Desk. Ben Stokes has announced his retirement from international cricket. The three-Test series played against New Zealand proved to be the last for him. However, neither the England team could register victory in this nor Ben Stokes himself could play any historic innings. Meanwhile, he has definitely made the record of most sixes in Test cricket. The special thing is that India’s wicketkeeper batsman Rishabh Pant is the closest to this, who is an active batsman.

The record of hitting most sixes in Test cricket is in the name of England captain Ben Stokes. He started his Test career in the year 2013. Since then, he has played 122 Test matches and hit 138 sixes, which is the highest in Tests. Ben Stokes has scored 7272 runs. He has 14 centuries and 37 half-centuries in his name in Tests. Ben Stokes has scored runs at a strike rate of 58.52 and an average of 34.46 in his career.

  • Talking about till now, there are only three batsmen in the world who have hit more than 100 sixes in Tests. The first name in this is that of Ben Stokes, apart from him, Brendon McCullum of New Zealand has hit 107 sixes and Adam Gilchrist has hit 100 sixes. New Zealand’s fast bowler is surprisingly at fourth position in this list with 98 sixes. Chris Gayle has also hit 98 sixes in Tests.

India’s Rishabh Pant comes at sixth place in the list. Pant has hit 97 sixes in 50 Tests so far. Pant started his Test career in the year 2018. There is no active batsman ahead of Pant who has hit so many sixes in Tests. That means his number of sixes will not increase now, but Pant now has a beautiful opportunity to complete his 100 sixes as soon as possible and then move forward towards Ben Stokes’ world record.

However, it is not going to be very easy for Pant to break this record. Pant needs at least 42 more sixes to go ahead of Stokes. There is less Test cricket. Even if Pant continues to move forward at this pace, it will take at least two years for him to reach there. But as of now it seems certain that if this record of Stokes is broken then only Pant will come in line, the rest of the batsmen are lagging far behind.
