Bengaluru’s famous boxing coach arrested, harassed minor player for 4 years, police took action

Bengaluru Boxing Coach Ramachandra Arrested: A 50-year-old boxing coach has been arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a 17-year-old female boxer in Bengaluru, Karnataka. A case has been registered against the boxing coach under the POCSO Act. Following a written complaint by the mother of a minor female boxer, an FIR was registered against the boxing coach at Sampangiramnagar police station on Friday.

A coach associated with Bengaluru-based Lions Boxing Club has been arrested on charges of sexual exploitation. The accused has been identified as Ramchandra (50). The police is interrogating him and trying to gather complete information about the case.

Taking training since 10 years

According to the police, the minor girl (17) was taking training in a boxing club for the last 10 years, where the coach used to harass her continuously and surprisingly, this sequence continued not for one or two, but for four years. The accused would sometimes block his path.

Sometimes he would forcibly call her into the room and continuously try to do wrong things with her. When the girl protested against the behavior of the coach, he threatened to kill her.

Bengaluru Police said that the boxing coach had told the victim in a threatening tone that if she tried to tell her parents about this, she would be killed. Therefore, it is in his best interest not to talk about these incidents to anyone.

As a victim, such incidents had increased significantly in the last few days. In such a situation, when he felt that the water had now reached above his head, he narrated his ordeal to his mother. After this his mother lodged a complaint with the police regarding this entire matter.

While giving information to the police, the victim said that on May 17, she had gone to Chennai, Tamil Nadu to participate in a competition. During that time, the accused coach called her into the room and tried to touch her inappropriately. When the victim protested against this, the coach got enraged and also threatened her of dire consequences. Following the complaint of the victim, the police have registered a case against the accused.
