Bengaluru rain spoils fifth T20, India-West Indies series ends at 2-2

The fifth and decisive T20 match between India and West Indies has been washed out due to rain. In this way the series ended in a tie of 2-2. The match started with a delay of two and a quarter hours at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, due to which the match was played in 9-9 overs. After losing the toss and opting to bat first, the Indian team had scored 118 runs after losing 5 wickets in 7.4 overs, then rain came again and the game could not start again.

According to Indian time, the cutoff time for the 5-over chase was 10.21 pm, but as there was no sign of rain stopping, the players of both the teams joined hands 4 minutes before. Team India could not win the T20 series at home after 4 years. Last time in 2022, South Africa had held India to a 2-2 draw in the 5-match series.

Ishaan Kishan and Naman Dheer created a stir

Abhishek Sharma had hit a six in the first over itself but Keemo Paul made a strong comeback on the very next ball and dismissed him. After this, Ishan Kishan, who came to the crease and scored 24 runs against Romario Shepherd in the second over, showed that he is in a fighting mood today. He sent a ball from Shepherd out of the stadium. Ishaan scored 30 runs in 10 balls, which included 3 fours and 2 sixes, before getting out on the third ball of the third over. Sanju Samson, who was away from strike for a long time, scored 16 runs in 7 balls.

Captain Shreyas Iyer could score only 22 runs after playing 14 balls. His slow innings seemed to be costing Team India but Naman Dhir compensated by scoring unbeaten 24 runs in 6 balls. He batted brilliantly and hit 1 four and 3 sixes. Tilak Verma was out after scoring 7 runs in 6 balls. After this it rained and further play could not take place. Keemo Paul and Shamar Springer took 2-2 wickets for West Indies.

The fun of Bhuvneshwar's return is bittersweet

Experienced fast bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar was included in Team India for the match. He also got a place in the playing XI. Bhuvneshwar was about to bowl in the Indian team jersey after 4 years but the match was canceled before he could bowl.

Rain also dashed the hopes of West Indies. The Caribbean team had a chance to win a series in India for the first time since 2002 but its wait increased.
