Recently, Parvinder Singh Jhota, who was running an anti-drug campaign, was murdered in Mansa, Punjab. Union Home Minister Amit Shah is going to Mansa today i.e. on 20th October to meet the family of Parvinder Jhota. Even before his arrival, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government of Punjab has demanded investigation of this case by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). It is also being considered as an election ploy as the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is attacking AAP on the drug issue. Earlier, a video of Parvinder Jhota's father had surfaced in which he had said that he does not want the resignation of Bhagwant Mann but wants a CBI investigation into this case.
On October 20, Union Home Minister Amit Shah is on a visit to Punjab. His visit is being considered very important before the upcoming assembly elections of Punjab. Apart from Mansa, he is going to meet families in Sangrur and Gurdaspur whose members were attacked in drug-related cases. Apart from Parvinder Singh Jhota, one more person has also lost his life and two others are admitted in the hospital.
