Bhansali Productions faces backlash over 'Gangubai Kathiawadi' post after 'Eetha' trailer

A social media post about Alia Bhatt’s Gangubai Kathiawadi drew criticism after the trailer of Shraddha Kapoor’s upcoming film Eetha was released.

Bhansali Productions shared the post on X on Friday, shortly after the trailer caught attention online. The timing led several users to question why the production house had brought up its earlier film on the same day.

The post featured a line from Gangubai Kathiawadiwhich was directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and starred Alia Bhatt in the lead role.

The production house wrote, “Duniya uski kahaani likh rahi thi, Gangubai ne kalam apne hath mein le li.”

The post soon attracted reactions from social media users. Some accused the production house of trying to draw attention away from Eetha, while others questioned the timing of the post.

One user wrote, “This is how you show your insecurity, like seriously fans are okay but production page doing this childish stuff??.”

Another user called it a “cheap move”, pointing out that the post appeared on the day of the Eetha trailer release.

A third user also criticised the timing and wrote, “Imagine being this bothered by Shraddha’s success. The jealousy and insecurity are loud!!.”

The discussion brought Alia Bhatt’s Gangubai Kathiawadi and Shraddha Kapoor’s Eetha into comparisons on social media. Both films centred on female characters, although they had different stories.

Meanwhile, Eetha was directed by Laxman Utekar. The film’s release was earlier planned for August 2026 but was postponed to avoid a box office clash with Yash’s Toxic.

The makers later scheduled its release for December 4, 2026.
