Former great captain of the Indian cricket team, Kapil Dev has strongly welcomed the return of fast bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar to the Indian T20 team after 4 years. Kapil Dev said during the Kapil Dev Invitational Tour Championship held at Jaypee Greens Golf and Spa Resort on Wednesday that Bhuvi’s comeback is a big inspiration for all the players who are missing from the team. 36-year-old Bhuvneshwar Kumar has been selected in the Indian team for the 5-match T20I series against New Zealand starting from October 22.
What did Kapil Dev say?
Bhuvneshwar Kumar played his last T20 International match for India against New Zealand in November 2022. Despite being out of Team India for a long time, Bhuvi did not give up and continued to sweat in domestic cricket as well as IPL. Praising Bhuvi’s dedication, Kapil Dev said, ‘After being out of Team India, Bhuvi worked very hard. He worked on his fitness and kept bowling consistently, due to which he made a comeback today. His comeback will also inspire other players that if they have passion and intention to work hard, they can make a comeback in the game at any time.
Wreaked havoc in UP T20 League and IPL
This comeback of Bhuvneshwar Kumar is not only on the basis of his experience, but on the basis of the excellent performance he has shown on the field. In the recently concluded UP T20 League, Bhuvi, playing for UP, took 14 wickets in 11 innings at an economical economy of just 6.11 and an average of 16.00. Apart from this, his performance in the last two IPL seasons was also amazing. Bhuvi, who has played 21 Tests, 121 ODIs and 87 T20 Internationals (90 wickets) for India, is now ready to shine in the blue jersey once again.
