In Supaul district of Bihar, police took major action against drug smugglers and recovered about 427.95 kg of ganja. The value of the seized ganja in the international market has been estimated to be around Rs 1 crore 71 lakh. The action was taken in Pipra police station area on Monday morning, where the police stopped a suspicious pickup vehicle and searched it.

Police investigation revealed that the smugglers were hiding the consignment of ganja in a very clever manner. Sacks filled with ganja were kept in a specially made secret chamber under the rear seat and door of the pickup vehicle. An attempt was made to make it look like a normal goods vehicle by placing an empty carat on top, so that the police would not get a clue.

According to the information, this huge consignment of ganja was being taken to Bhagalpur from the haunted area of Madhubani district. However, due to the activeness of Pipra police station, the smugglers’ plan failed. During the action, the police arrested Upendra Kumar Yadav, a resident of Kopa village under Dulhin Bazar police station area of Patna district. Police Station Head Rajesh Kumar Jha said that this success was achieved during the vehicle checking operation being conducted under the leadership of Police Sub Inspector Rajiv Kumar Singh.

Police have seized the pickup vehicle and the entire consignment of ganja. A case has been registered against the accused under the NDPS Act and he has been sent to judicial custody.
