New Delhi: Just before CJP's proposed protest at Jantar Mantar, big news has come out about YouTuber Dhruv Rathi. According to reports, within two days of his return to India, he was taken into custody by the police from his home in Gurugram. It is being told that on Saturday morning the Delhi Police team had reached his residence in Kendriya Vihar, Sector 56. His mother was also present at home at that time. Reports claim that the police team has around 50 members. However, no official statement has yet come from the police on this entire matter.

Dhruv Rathi reached India on 8 October. After this he participated in the demonstration organized in Bengaluru, in which protest was expressed against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and the Election Commission. He reached Delhi on the night of 9 October and also went to India Gate. From here he shared a video on social media. After this he went to his home in Gurugram. It is being told that on Saturday he was to participate in the CJP protest to be held at Jantar Mantar in Delhi.

Questions raised regarding Dhruv Rathi's citizenship

Meanwhile, controversy has also come to light regarding YouTuber's citizenship and his stay in India. Former Bengaluru Police Commissioner Bhaskar Rao had raised questions over Dhruv Rathi's participation in the protest on October 8 and demanded an investigation from the Union Home Ministry. In a letter to the Union Home Secretary, Rao said that Rathi is said to be a citizen of Germany. He took part in the protest along with actor and social activist Prakash Raj, among others. During this time, the Election Commission and the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list were criticized.

Demand for action on violation of rules

Rao raised the question in his letter whether a foreign citizen living in India on the basis of any special visa or permission can participate in political demonstrations related to constitutional and legal institutions. He requested the Home Ministry to collect information about Rathi's citizenship, the passport used to come to India, the category of visa and the conditions related to permission to stay in the country.

The former police commissioner also sought to investigate whether Dhruv Rathi was allowed to attend or address the protest and whether prior approval was required. He said that if any violation of the Foreigners Act, visa conditions, immigration rules, OCI rules or other applicable laws is detected, action should be taken under the relevant provisions. However, no official conclusion has been revealed on the questions raised regarding Rathi's citizenship and visa.
