Hero Life VX2— Buying an electric two-wheeler in the Indian automobile market has now come within the budget of the common man. Due to **Battery Subscription Plan (BaaS)** launched by vehicle manufacturers, there has been a huge decline in the starting prices of electric scooters. In this regard, the country’s largest two-wheeler company Hero MotoCorp has taken a big step. The company’s popular model **Hero Vida VX2** is now available to the customers at a starting price of just **Rs 44,490 (ex-showroom)**.

What is BaaS plan and how is the price reduced?
The battery alone accounts for about **40 to 50 percent** of the total cost of traditional electric scooters. Because of this, new drivers had to spend a huge lump sum amount. Under the new business model, companies are now selling scooters without batteries. Customers can buy the scooter at a low price and use the battery on a monthly or kilometer basis like a mobile data pack.
Hero Vida VX2 is part of this strategy. Removable swappable battery technology has been used in this scooter. This means that once discharged, customers can go to the nearest swapping station and exchange a fully charged battery in a matter of seconds. The top model of this scooter gives a range of **142 kilometers** once fully charged.
Statement from auto experts
“The battery subscription model will triple the pace of adoption of electric vehicles in India. Middle class families who could not afford a lump sum of Rs 1.25 lakh are now easily adopting an EV for less than Rs 45,000.”
