Mathura: The team of Food Safety and Drug Administration took major action in Kosikalan area while running a campaign against adulterated and unsafe food items. The team recovered about 1200 kg of suspicious cheese from a Bolero vehicle near Highway King Dhaba located on NH-2. Its estimated price is said to be around three lakh rupees. Food safety officials took three samples of the cheese and sent them to the Government Food Laboratory for testing, while the remaining cheese was destroyed on the spot in public interest.
The action was taken under the direction of Assistant Commissioner Food Dr. Jatin Kumar Singh on the instructions of Commissioner Food Safety and Drug Administration, Uttar Pradesh Lucknow and District Magistrate Chandra Prakash Singh. The food mobile team was led by Kamlesh Kumar Tripathi.
Undocumented vehicle inspection
During inspection, Bolero number DL 1LAN 2511 was stopped and checked. Driver Satyaveer, son of Vishwavidyalaya, resident of village Khedli Jallo, police station Cama, district Deeg, Rajasthan told that he was carrying about 1200 kg of cheese for sale. When the team asked for records related to the purchase and sale of cheese, the driver could not present any document.
Samples sent, further action will be taken
The officials collected three samples after the quality of the cheese was found doubtful. According to the department, after receiving the laboratory investigation report, further action will be taken against the concerned person as per rules under food safety and standards. Food safety officers Jitendra Singh, Mohar Singh Kushwaha, Arun Kumar and Dinesh Bharti were present in the campaign.
