Big blow to Pawan Kheda from High Court, bail plea rejected in the case related to Assam CM’s wife.

News India Live, Digital Desk: The troubles of senior Congress leader and national spokesperson Pawan Kheda are not showing any sign of abating. The Gauhati High Court on Friday rejected Khera’s anticipatory bail in the forgery and fraud case filed by Riniki Bhuyan Sharma, wife of Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma. After this strict stance of the court, now the threat of arrest is looming over Pawan Kheda. Arguments of ‘political revenge’ failed: Justice Saikia’s tough stance. The single bench of Justice Parthiv Jyoti Saikia gave this decision after hearing the long debate of both the parties on the petition of Pawan Kheda. On behalf of Kheda, senior advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi had argued through video conferencing that this case is completely motivated by ‘political vendetta’ and there is no possibility of his client escaping (flight risk). However, the court did not consider these arguments sufficient and agreed with the arguments of the Advocate General of the Assam Government in which the case was said to be not only related to defamation but also related to forgery of documents. What is the whole matter? The controversy surrounding passport and property started when Pawan Kheda had alleged during a press conference that Riniki Bhuyan Sharma, wife of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, has passports of UAE and Egypt apart from India. Kheda also claimed to have undeclared assets in Dubai and a dubious company in the US. Riniki Bhuyan Sharma completely rejected these allegations, calling it a fake document created by AI and lodged an FIR against Kheda in the Guwahati Crime Branch under sections of fraud, forgery and making false statements during elections. Relief was not even received from the Supreme Court. Earlier, Pawan Kheda had taken transit bail from the Telangana High Court, but the Supreme Court had put a stay on it. The top court had directed Kheda to approach the concerned court in Assam. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said after the High Court’s decision that Pawan Kheda should respect the law and surrender in Guwahati. On the other hand, BJP has called this decision a defeat of ‘politics of lies’. Now it remains to be seen whether Congress leaders approach the Supreme Court against this decision or reach Assam to join the investigation.
