Now Truecaller and LinkedIn have partnered to reduce this problem. After this integration, the verified professional identity on LinkedIn can be linked with the Caller ID of Truecaller.
This means that when a professional calls, depending on the information available and the user's permission, the other person may see not only the name and number but also professional information such as company, job title and profile photo. According to LinkedIn, its Verified on LinkedIn system now also provides professional identity verification signals on partner platforms like Truecaller.
How will the new feature of Truecaller and LinkedIn work?
Under this facility, Truecaller users will be able to connect their LinkedIn profile to their Truecaller profile. Available and verified professional information on LinkedIn can be shown in Truecaller Caller ID. For example, if a person works in a company and his LinkedIn profile is verified, then when a call comes from that person, the receiver can get information like his name along with workplace and job title. This can be especially helpful in understanding calls where the caller and receiver do not know each other beforehand.
According to LinkedIn, more than 115 million members have now verified their identity or workplace on LinkedIn. The company has added Truecaller and PeerSpot as new partners to expand Verified on LinkedIn to other platforms.
Why can this feature be useful in professional calls?
The new integration could be especially useful for business communications. For example, when a company employee, client, prospect, recruiter, or business partner calls, the professional information that appears on Caller ID can help the receiver understand the context of the call.
According to Kunal Dua, Chief Product Officer of Truecaller, a phone number in itself gives limited information about a person. The partnership with LinkedIn aims to provide a more professional context to Caller ID.
Information will be shown with user's permission
Use of this feature entirely depends on the profile connection and user permissions. According to Truecaller information, professionals can show their workplace and job title by linking their LinkedIn profile to Truecaller. That is, the professional information of every Truecaller user will automatically appear on the Caller ID, it is not so. Users need to connect their LinkedIn profile to Truecaller and choose to share available professional information.
Option available for new users also
This integration with LinkedIn isn't just for existing Truecaller users. According to the company's announcement, professionals can link their identity and professional information to Caller ID by linking their LinkedIn profile to Truecaller. This will also provide the option for new users to setup a professional identity.
This new Truecaller-LinkedIn integration is currently being rolled out for Android users worldwide. Truecaller has said that the feature is gradually being extended to Android users and there are preparations to bring it for iPhone later. This means professionals using Truecaller on Android can make their professional identity more visible on Caller ID by connecting their LinkedIn profiles.
