Big change is coming in Instagram-Facebook Reels, Meta is testing new ‘Series’ feature

Tezzbuzz Desk- Meta is preparing to further improve the Reels experience on its popular social media platforms Instagram and Facebook. The company is testing a new feature ‘Series’, through which creators will be able to present their related videos as a sequential series. The purpose of this feature is to keep viewers engaged with the content for a longer period of time and reduce the habit of repeated scrolling.

According to media reports, this feature will be tested with selected creators in the initial phase. Under the ‘Series’ feature, creators will be able to combine multiple reels as episodes of the same series. With this, viewers will easily be able to watch all the videos related to a topic at one place.

For example, if a creator is creating a 10-day fitness challenge, cooking course, or a series of educational content, they’ll be able to organize all the videos as a series. With this, users will not need to search for each episode separately and the entire content will be available together.

According to reports, the special thing about this feature will be that creators will be able to add new reels as well as already uploaded videos to a series. All series will appear in a separate section on the profile, allowing the content to be presented in an organized manner.

Meta believes that this will increase audience engagement and motivate them to continue watching videos related to a topic. This model could promote new ways of content consumption like video streaming platforms.

Apart from this, the company is also considering new earning options through this feature. Although Meta has not yet officially announced any monetization model, it is believed that payment arrangements for accessing some premium series may be made in the future. This model could be like TikTok’s Series feature, where creators make their exclusive content available under paid access.

If this feature is successful, it could change both the way content creation and viewing is done on Instagram and Facebook. This will provide an opportunity to creators to better present their videos and build a stronger connect with the audience.
