Big decision of Bihar government: Now land will be purchased directly from Raiyat, you will get bumper money

Patna. Bihar government has taken a big decision to make the land acquisition process easier and faster. Now land can be purchased directly from the tenants for state and central government projects. The state cabinet has approved the Bihar Ryoti Land Purchase Policy, 2026, under which a provision has been made to give compensation to farmers and land owners several times more than the market rate.

The government believes that with this new policy, roads, bridges, hospitals, schools and other development projects will be completed rapidly. Often government projects remain stuck for a long time due to delay in land acquisition. After the implementation of the new system, land will be available to the government on time and the work on projects will progress rapidly.

Land will be purchased directly from the tenant

According to the new policy, now the government will be able to purchase land directly from the tenants on the basis of mutual consent and negotiation instead of the long process of land acquisition. The transfer of land will be done through a registered document and it is claimed to make the entire process transparent.

Compensation up to four times in rural areas

The government has also made a big provision regarding the compensation amount. In rural areas, the land will be paid up to four times the market rate or circle rate (MVR), whichever is higher. In urban areas, compensation will be given twice the market value or circle rate, whichever is higher. Due to this, land owners are likely to get more economic benefits than before.

10 percent additional incentive amount

Under the new policy, the government has decided to give another big benefit. Apart from the fixed compensation amount, the ryots will also be given an additional incentive amount of 10 percent of the total price. This amount will be given to land owners in both rural and urban areas.

Relief from stamp and registration fees

The government has also decided that stamp duty and registration fee will not be charged on the land purchased under this policy. This will make the process of land transfer cheaper and easier.
