UP Petrol Diesel Price: Government oil companies on Monday increased the prices of petrol by ₹ 2.61 per liter and diesel by ₹ 2.71 per liter. This is the fourth increase in two weeks, taking the total increase in petrol and diesel prices since May 15 to around ₹7.35 and ₹7.53 per litre. May 15 was the date when retail fuel prices were changed for the first time as international crude oil prices reached multi-year highs due to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.
Industry executives and sector analysts said the trend of gradual price hikes is unlikely to end any time soon as the three state-run oil marketing companies (OMCs) are not only recovering the current revenue losses on petrol and diesel but also their past losses on auto fuel and cooking gas.
