New Delhi. The Central Government has made a major change in the scholarship system on the National Scholarship Portal (NSP) from the academic session 2026-27. Under the new system, the old policy of 'One Student-One Scholarship' has been abolished and the 'One Student-Multiple Scholarship' model has been implemented. Its benefit will be available to those students who fulfill the eligibility of more than one scholarship scheme.
Benefits of merit and welfare scholarship
Now no student will be excluded from merit based scholarship because of getting welfare scholarship. If the student fulfills the conditions of both the schemes, then as per the rules, the benefits of both can be availed together.
The application process will also be easy
In the new system, students will not have to enter their basic information again and again while applying for different scholarships. In the second application, only the information and documents required for the concerned scheme will have to be given. This will reduce both time and effort in filling the form.
All applications are under investigation if any irregularities are found.
Changes have also been made in the verification system to keep the scholarship process transparent. Officials will see information from all applications of a student together. If incorrect information or fake documents are found in an application, the concerned applications may be red flagged and may even be cancelled.
CBSE has also instructed its affiliated schools to disseminate information about the new scholarship system to students and parents.
