Big decision of the High Court, said- give enough police force to remove the encroachment of lawyers

Bureau Prayagraj. The Lucknow bench of the High Court has continued to take a strict stance on the occupations carried out by lawyers around the District Court located in Kaiserbagh. The court has directed the district administration to provide adequate police force to the Municipal Corporation to remove these encroachments. The officers have also been asked to present the action taken report in the next hearing to be held on May 25 in the case. A division bench of Justice Rajesh Singh Chauhan and Justice Rajiv Bharti gave this order on the petition of Anuradha Singh and two others.

According to the report filed by the Municipal Corporation in the matter, 72 encroachments have been found in the concerned area. Most of these are advocates’ chambers and illegal shops. Earlier, the court had ordered the Municipal Corporation that whatever necessary steps have been taken to remove these encroachments, they should be taken to their logical end. It was also said that if police force is needed for this, it should be immediately made available to the Municipal Corporation.

In the hearing held on Wednesday, the state government’s chief standing counsel Shailendra Kumar Singh presented letters from the DCP (Headquarters) and DCP (West), along with the Additional Commissioner of Police (West), Lucknow. In these, the reasons were given due to which police force could not be made available to the Municipal Corporation officers to remove the encroachment.

The Municipal Corporation informed the court about setting a new date of May 12 for removal of encroachment. On this, the court said that it is clear from these letters that due to some unavoidable reasons, police force could not be provided on April 25, but on the next scheduled date, appropriate police force will be provided to the Municipal Corporation to remove illegal construction and encroachment. The court has given 15 days time to take necessary steps for this and inform about the action.

In the case, the court had earlier said that the people living around the District Court, Old High Court Complex, Collectorate, Revenue Council, Old Sadar Tehsil Complex, Sub-Registrar Office, Divisional Commissioner Office, Residency Power Sub Station, Balrampur Hospital, Kaiserbagh Bus Stand and Tedhi Kothi are badly troubled by the occupations of lawyers.
