While The White Lotus continues to dominate headlines, the HBO drama has also faced several notable casting replacements over the years.

After previous seasons in Hawaii and Sicily, season 3 of The White Lotus headed to Thailand with another star-packed ensemble featuring Leslie Bibb, Carrie Coon, Walton Goggins, Sarah Catherine Hook, Jason Isaacs, Lalisa Manobal, Michelle Monaghan, Sam Nivola, Lek Patravadi, Parker Posey, Natasha Rothwell, Patrick Schwarzenegger, Tayme Thapthimthong and Aimee Lou Wood.
While viewers know the final cast of The White Lotusa few key characters, including Chloe and Frank, were initially set to be played by entirely different actors before filming began in February 2024.

Aleksei – portrayed by Julian Kostov
Miloš Biković was initially revealed to be the new addition in January 2024 as part of the first casting wave for The White Lotus.
But was later recast a month later following backlash over his alleged support of Russia amid the dispute in Ukraine.
The role did not stay vacant for long, as Julian Kostov was announced as the new addition to the fan favourite series as his replacement.
Chloe- portrayed by Charlotte Le Bon
Chloe was first set to be played by Francesca Corney, but just a month into production, she was replaced by Charlotte Le Bon.
At the time, Deadline reported that the change was made because Mike White and his team ultimately decided they wanted someone older to portray the role.
Frank- portrayed by Sam Rockwell
Leslie Bibb revealed that bringing in Sam Rockwell as Frank in the Dark comedy drama wasn’t part of the original plan.
Speaking on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohenshe shared, “They came to him at the very last minute to do the show because we had gone long and casting had shifted.”
Continuing, “He was not sure about doing it just because he didn’t have proper prep time. So we went on safari in South Africa, and I was like, ‘I’ll get you off the book. I’ll get you off book.’”
Unknown season 4 character
Just a week after production began on season 4 of The White Lotus, Helena Bonham Carter’s early departure quickly became a major talking point.
In April 2026, reports confirmed that Helena Bonham Carter’s character was scrapped from The White Lotuswith Laura Dern stepping in for a newly created role tailored specifically for her.
